Heritage communities, social innovation and sustainable tourism practices in rural areas

  1. The aim of this work package is to evaluate to what extent the participation and the engagement of inhabitants and visitors in an active heritage community around territorial commons can contribute to social innovation in rural areas and to the development of integrated, inclusive and sustainable cultural tourism projects.
  2. We will apply a transdisciplinary approach, combining socio-economic and good practice analysis as well as relying on the achievements of the literature on heritage community building, tourism development and territorial management as well as on the diversity of the axes explored by the consortium partners.
  3. This WP directly responds to Agenda 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals, namely Goals 8 and 12, on inclusive and sustainable economic growth and sustainable consumption and production, and contributes to SDG11 of sustainable cities and communities.
