In 2024, Bibracte and its partners of the Grand Site de France of Bibracte–Morvan des Sommets, engaged in the SECreTOUR programme, responded to a call for projects aiming at structuring and developing tourism around the Tour du Morvan des Sommets route. This initiative followed a 12 months mission led by the French National Agency for Territorial Cohesion (ANCT). The first phase of the mission provided a forward-looking assessment of the tourism offer, the territory, and its ecosystem. The second phase, completed in summer 2025, led to a shared agreement on the need to harmonize and standardize hiking infrastructure as a prerequisite for further development. The strategy emphasized building on existing services to create viable tourism products, rather than developing entirely new infrastructures from scratch. Additional interviews with local socio-economic actors helped refine this strategy.

The final recommendations were presented on January 19th 2026 at Bibracte, bringing together around twenty stakeholders of the project. The recommendations form a necessary foundation for strengthening the local hiking offer and include the development of a comprehensive signage management plan and system by stabilizing the network of routes, adopting a shared digital management and promotion tool. A funding request has been submitted to support technical assistance for trail marking and signage design. Following the mission, a technical working group will meet on a regular basis to address governance, implementation of the signage management plan, and investment planning. The first meeting of this working group was held on April 11th 2026 at Bibracte.
