As part of the process of creating and consolidating the Community Patrimonial of Salar, the I Critical Photography Workshop «PatrimonioSSalar. PatrimonioS que se sienten» has been launched. This participatory initiative aims to foster a critical and reflective approach to local heritage through photography.
The workshop is based on the idea that heritage is not limited to monumental assets or elements that have been institutionally recognised, but also encompasses the spaces, practices, knowledge, landscapes, ways of life and everyday elements that the community itself considers meaningful. From this perspective, photography is understood as a tool to observe, interpret and express the different ways in which heritage is experienced and felt by the local population.
The initiative invites residents of Salar, as well as anyone interested in participating, to submit photographs taken either with cameras or mobile devices. The aim is not simply to obtain aesthetically appealing images, but rather to produce photographs capable of telling a story, raising questions or highlighting aspects of heritage that often go unnoticed.
Participants are encouraged to reflect, through their images, on questions such as which heritage elements are still present in Salar, which are undergoing processes of transformation or disappearance, which practices form part of the community's everyday life, and how perceptions of heritage differ between those who live in the territory and those who visit it.
The call is open to all types of participants, both professional and amateur, allowing for a wide diversity of perspectives on Salar's heritage. Photographs may focus on any element considered meaningful to the local identity, including irrigation channels, traditional architecture, occupations and crafts, festivals, landscapes, recipes, mills, paths, words, everyday spaces and social practices, among others.
The workshop is thus conceived as a tool for participation, awareness-raising and the collective construction of knowledge, contributing to broadening the understanding of local heritage and strengthening the relationship between heritage, territory and community. At the same time, the activity helps to make visible the diversity of perceptions surrounding Salar's heritage and to generate new materials for reflection and for disseminating the town's local identity.
Through «PatrimonioSSalar. PatrimonioS que se sienten», the Community Patrimonial of Salar continues to develop actions that seek to place the community at the centre of the identification, interpretation and valorisation of its heritage, understanding heritage as a living and dynamic element, closely connected to the experiences and emotions of the people who inhabit the territory.
