The Vlachs of the Upper Vjosa Valley
On 6th February 2025, CeRPHAAL, in collaboration with the Cultural Office of the Municipality of Përmet and the ‘Sami Frashëri’ High School, organized the second seminar in a program of activities designed to introduce students to their local heritage. The program aims to inspire appreciation of their past and encourage the young generation to participate in the protection and promotion of their historical landscape.
This month’s session focused on the historical community of the Vlachs of the Upper Vjosa Valley, highlighting their history, enduring connection to the region, and particular aspects of cultural heritage. The discussion also explored strategies for protecting, revitalizing, and promoting Vlach heritage, emphasizing its potential as an important element in the local tourism development.
