The 33rd Nordic Symposium on Tourism and Hospitality was held on the island of Bornholm, Denmark from the 17th-19th September 2025.
Viktor Smith presented 'What makes a place a place to visit?', co-authored with Maximilian Block, Nicole Carpentari and Carsten Jacob Humlebæk, at the Symposium.
The presentation examined the “big picture” of what SECreTour (and INCULTUM) are essentially about + some selected highlights on the naming & framing dimension. The latter includes some results from the completed Faro studies but takes the focus further to a diagnostic tool designed for wider use and the diversity of scenarios found in other SECreTour pilots. Rosana de la Viuda also presented a very interesting take on the (possible new) concept of digital heritage communities, with the Irish pilot 'Historic Graves of Ireland and the Irish Diaspora' as an exemplar case.
